February Koinonikos

Dayspring's Children's Council mission is to support the children from birth to sixth grade in their spiritual growth with God.

For information regarding Children's Ministries at Dayspring, please contact Kluzaich@cox.net, Coordinator of Children's Ministries. Together with the Children's Council, laity and staff, they work together to create a ministry wherein children learn about God and the great love for each and every one of them.

Nursery

Professional nursery care is provided for children from newborn to two years of age during both the 9:00 and 10:30 Worship Services. Nursery can also be available during special worship services, concerts and programs. Our staff and volunteers provide a loving and nurturing environment to all little ones.

Mission Projects

Throughout the school year, children have the opportunity to participate in mission projects where they engage in "hands-on" experiences with raising funds to help those in need, as well as the collection and donation of various food and clothing items.

Family Christmas Eve Service
6:00pm, Christmas Eve

This popular service, held each Christmas Eve at 6:00 PM features music and drama by the Sunday School children and our Children's Choirs.

Sunday School

We are still looking for a few teachers to cover Sunday School classes. We only have a couple of classes that need coverage and a couple of classes that need another teacher. Please let Kay Luzaich know if you are available to teach at kluzaich@cox.net. Also, let Kay know if you are available to substitute teach. Thank You!

Pillow Talk

Pillow Talk is an overnight event for Third through Sixth Graders. It’s a chance to learn more about the Bible and have Christian fellowship. Children work their way through the centers where they study scripture and make a craft to reinforce the scripture. Pillow Talk is held in the Spring and Fall each year.

Pillow Talk will be held September 9th-10th. All 3rd-6th graders are invited to join us for a time of fellowship, learning, and fun! The organizers are excited to introduce new activities that have never been a part of Pillow Talk before. Please remember that we need parent involvement to pull this program off. Particular needs are helping with dinner and breakfast, Friday evening and Saturday morning activities, and spending the night (we need two moms and two dads to spend the night). Please contact Ruth Boyle at ruthboyle1@cox.net for more information or to volunteer.

Sprouts

Sprouts is a ministry for Fourth through Sixth Graders who want to help one another grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. As part of their spiritual journey, they meet weekly to support one another and hold one another accountable to a group covenant that they have created and agreed upon.

Sprouts is under way after a wonderful summer. If your child is in 4th-6th grade and has not joined, but would like to, please contact Tammy White at tammywhite@cox.net or Mark Boyle at ruthboyle1@cox.net. We meet on Wednesday nights from 5:45-6:45 in Room 201. The kids will be doing lots of projects this year including (but not limited to) UMOM walk, Family Promise, serving at UMOM and others.

Acolytes/Liturgists

Children can train and serve as acolytes (candle lighters), assisting in both the 9:00 and 10:30 Worship Services, as well as special services throughout the year. Periodically, the children are also called upon to participate in the Worship Service in capacities such as the reading of Scripture.

Choirs

Let your child express the music inside! Open to children from Preschool through 6th grade, our Children's Choir sings in Worship six or more times a year. In addition, they lead the 6:00pm Family Christmas Eve Service, and join the Combined Adult and Youth Choirs on Palm Sunday, Thanksgiving Sunday, and other Festival Services throughout the year.

From Dayspring's new Children's Choir Director:

Hello, Dayspring Families! My name is JulieAnne Weissberg and I am the new Children's Choir Director. We are going to have so much fun in our weekly choir rehearsals and learn a lot about singing and music making. Our rehearsals are on Wednesday nights. Sunshine Singers (1st-3rd grade) meet from 6:00-6:30 in the Media Center and will sing on September 11th at the 9:00am service. The Genesis Choir (4th-6th grade) meets from 6:45-7:30 in the Media Center and will sing on September 11th at the 10:30 a.m. service. We always have more room in choir for singers, so please start up whenever your child is ready!

Cherub Choir (Ages 3-Kindergarten) meets on Wednesday nights from 6:00-6:30 in the Adult Room.
