February Koinonikos

Have you often wondered what Adult Education is all about? Do adults really need to be educated in the Christian faith? Isn't education for kids? Have you wondered what goes on behind the doors of the Adult Room on Sunday mornings? Have you sometimes felt intimidated by the topics offered? Have you ever attended a class and not returned for some reason? If you have had any of these feelings about Adult Education at Dayspring, we would like you to give it another chance. Education is a life-long process, not just in academics, but in your faith journey. Our classes are for persons at all places and in all situations on their journey. Those who have "arrived" do not need to learn! So...questions, doubts, beliefs--orthodox, liberal, or conservative are welcome in our classes. Even those who don't know what they believe (and that applies to all of us at one time or another) are welcome. If you are in a questioning period in your life, you will be joining others like you. Doubt is the other side of the coin of faith. They go together. So, won't you give Adult Education another chance. Sunday morning, Wednesday Evening Fellowship, Wednesday morning classes: All of these classes will be enriched by your presence!

Explorer's Class
Sundays, 9:00 a.m., Adult Room

This class provides a variety of classes for adults including Bible studies, contemporary theology, book studies, and issues current in church and society. Class members enjoy a variety of facilitators and lively discussion each week.

Contemporary Issues
Sundays, 10:30 a.m., Adult Room

This class is for anyone who wishes to discuss in-depth contemporary issues that challenge us as Christians. Current books, articles plus participation from those attending combine for stimulating discussions each week.

Sunday Morning Book Study
Sundays, 9:00 a.m., Library

This class recently studied the book, "The Heart of Jesus", by Max Lucado. The class focuses on relating spirituality to issues of daily living.

Mary Conover facilitates the class.

The Bible from Scratch
Sundays, 9:00 a.m., Room 112

This class meets each week and is for anyone who wishes to start reading the Bible "from scratch"”. It is a small group open to newcomers and regulars alike.

Led by Josie Teter.

Disciple Bible Studies Series

Short-Term Studies

Periodically, we offer short-term classes in spiritual formation and Christian education. Two examples are: "Deepening Love Affair," and "Sensing the Passion of Christ". Watch the Sunday bulletin, the Koinonikos and this page of the Dayspring web site for other special studies offered.

A Reminder from the Adult Education Council

If you have a meeting in the Adult Room either Saturday morning or Saturday afternoon, it is requested that you leave the chairs used in your meeting out in the room for the Explorer's and Contemporary Issues Classes to use on Sunday morning. Do not put the chairs back by the wall. They will just have to be taken down and set up again!
