It has been a busy summer in Children’s Ministry. We had so much fun with our Shipwrecked VBS, where 126 children and 48 volunteers joined us to learn that when we face life’s challenges, the love of God is there to guide us through.
Step Up Sunday is August 5th. On this day our regular Sunday school classes will resume during the 9:00 and 10:30 services.
Children in Pre-K (4 years old) – Kindergarten will continue to explore the stories of the bible in a hands on curriculum that will help them make the stories their own. The 1st – 2nd grade class will continue with the Godly Play Curriculum where they explore sacred stories and liturgical traditions through self-guided discovery. In 3rd and 4th grade as well as 5th – 6th grade, we will begin a Bible Black Belt Program where children will dive into their bibles, learning how to navigate through the books, recall prayers and passages, and find familiar stories. We are still looking for teachers to lead and assist in our Sunday school classes this year. Even if you are only able to help a couple weeks throughout the year, we would love to have you on board. It takes the whole Dayspring community to nurture our children’s faith! If you are interested or would like more information please email Emily@dayspring-umc.org
Join us on Step Up Sunday (August 5) for a Back to School Breakfast on the patio after the 9:00 and 10:30 services, sponsored by Children’s Ministry. Take this chance to find out more about Children’s ministry programming for this school year and get to know other Dayspring Families. Donuts, bagels, fruit, and drinks will be provided. Hope to see you there!
Blessing of the Backpacks: Kids are encouraged to bring their backpacks to church on Sunday, August 5. We will invite them to bring their school bags up front during Children’s Time for a special school year blessing.
On Sunday, August 26th from 5:30 – 7:30 we are hosting a private Pool Party at Nozomi Pool in Chandler, at Kyrene and the 202. The party is free of charge and open to all. Join us for water slides, a splash zone, high dive, and lots of family fun.
BeTween, a service and fellowship ministry for children in 4th-6th grade, will start up again in September. We are looking for parent/adults/youth to volunteer to lead or co-lead different Wednesday evenings throughout the year. If you are interested in helping out please email Emily@dayspring-umc.org
