Experiencing the Taize Miracle

Our monthly Taize service is paused for now. In the meantime, we have an exciting opportunity for virtual prayer.

The Taize contemplative prayer service comes from the ecumenical community of Taize, France. Tens of thousands of pilgrims, a larger portion of them young people, have made the trek to worship with the brothers there. Unique to their worship is the use of chants. The chants are simple tunes, set with lyrics in a neutral language – often Latin. One find that in the repetition of the melodies and lyrics, one is able to release the outside world and focus inward on one’s life, spirituality, place in the world, and one’s relationship with God and each other.

We have the distinct opportunity to join with Mercy Center in Burlingame, California to be a part of their monthly Taize Service virtually. A full service with chants and prayers and Scripture has been planned by the Sisters of Mercy at Mercy Center. The Director of the Center, Mary DuQuaine, and I had a delightful talk this week. They would love to have the Dayspring Community join with them in this service on the first Friday of each month. Of course, you can listen at any time that is convenient for you, but I love so much feeling a sense of community with Mercy Center. (I received my training in Spiritual Direction there in 2005 and it is truly a beautiful space.)

Blessings of Joy to each of us as we experience a new way to worship through Taize!!!!
